Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County (HFHEJC) in Port Townsend, Washington is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), a non-profit ecumenical Christian organization that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
Our Philosophy
Habitat offers people who cannot afford homes a hand up rather than a handout. Community volunteers help neighbors in need build a house. Habitat homeowners pay back the cost of their housing materials through a no-interest mortgage that typically lasts twenty years. Donations from the public and earnings from our second-hand furniture store cover the cost of land, roads, utilities and other overhead. Neither religion nor race is a
factor in choosing the families who receive Habitat houses.
Our Mission
Habitat for Humanity of East Jefferson County partners with low-income families to build lives on the foundation of homeownership. Our mission is accomplished by building simple, decent houses in collaboration with families and communities. Please join us!
